Selecting Your Wedding Venue – 3 Top Priorities

February 7, 2019

Happy 2019 and cheers to all the newly engaged couples out there about to search for their perfect wedding venue! This is a very exciting time for you! It can also be a very overwhelming experience but it doesn’t need to be. Pop the Cork Productions is here to help you have peace of mind.

Of course every couple’s priorities are different but we believe that Location, Location and Location are the top priorities when finding your perfect wedding venue. Just as your friendly neighborhood realtor would tell you, location is everything! Location applies to weddings in several different ways.

♥ Ideally your wedding venue’s style and vibe will speak to you as a couple. After all, your wedding is a celebration of the two of you finding each other and committing to love each other forever. Do you love the city, the country, mountains, the coast? Are you religious, spiritual or neither? Do you have a favorite season? Will you marry in the local area where you live or make it a destination wedding? Would you like your wedding ceremony to be indoors or outdoors? What about your reception? What would you like your backdrop or view to be for your ceremony and reception?

♥ Have you always dreamed of having your wedding at a country club or resort hotel? Or are you envisioning an art museum or historical building? Maybe you’d like to get married at the zoo or a botanical garden. Perhaps you’re thinking of a mountain lodge or even your backyard. Wherever you choose will set the tone for your big day and help guide you in selecting your attire, stationery suite, décor, entertainment, etc.

♥ Find out what each venue can do or provide for you at no additional cost before sealing the deal as well. What items do they own in-house that are available to you? Tables, chairs, linens, a dance floor, a ceremony arch, pipe & drape, charger plates, votive candles, and more! Being able to utilize even a few of these items can save you hundreds or sometimes even thousands of dollars!

♥ Do you want a wedding venue that is already in a naturally beautiful location that doesn’t require adding a lot of flowers and décor? Or do you prefer a blank slate that you can make your own?

♥ You want to be gracious hosts, right? Ideally, for your guests’ convenience, your wedding ceremony and reception will take place at the same venue and will be close to lodging and local attractions. This may not be possible if you’re choosing to marry in a church, but you can still keep your guests’ convenience in mind when selecting your venue(s).

♥ If you’re planning an outdoor wedding ceremony and/or reception, be sure to ask each venue what your alternate space would be in case of inclement weather. You need to be comfortable with whatever that space is and not be caught off guard the week or day of your wedding if Mother Nature decides to make an unwelcome appearance.

Plans A and B are generally very different vibes – make sure you are comfortable with both! (pc: both Janet Mitchell)
